The Toca Vryheid Djembes harken back to the freedom "vryheid" struggles of the South African Zulus. Toca Vryheid Djembes start as wood shells carved by skilled artisans, are given up to 20 coats of teak oil, and are then hand-painted with a tribal design. A traditional goat skin head delivers authentic sound, and special low-stretch alpine ropes with braided cores are used to ensure tuning. The 10" and 12" models deliver especially powerful and rich bass and all models produce sharp, cutting slap tones.
